Clients #modernlodgebyjdm is a looker!
The name came from the inspiration for the project. We wanted to infuse the structure with some modern lodge influences, like something you would stay in at a ski resort or a tucked away mountain lodge, but not too modern for the traditionally saturated area where the home is located. We also wanted to make sure the home fit the setting: a beautiful, tucked away high hilltop met by tall grasses and hidden by woods.
The inside was designed to take full advantage of the views. Furniture placement and room function were carefully chosen according to the window placement so the interior could be flooded with lots of natural daylight. The wife leaned more simplistic, being drawn to clean lines and minimalistic styles. The husband had connections to a wood mill that allowed us to design and create beautiful custom pieces such as the custom oak, hand scraped, hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen shelves and stair treads were old reclaimed beams he had been hanging onto and saving for their home.
This project was a real winner from the get go! The custom home builder, JDM Custom Homes was fabulous to work with. For example, check out the floating metal stairway…all them! Our touch can be seen on everything as well. My personal favorites are the custom cabinets throughout the home, the metal wrapped fireplace and kitchen hood, custom lights in the kitchen and guest bathroom, and last but not least the ahhhh-mazing custom S.Flynn sectional that was made for lazy days!! I loved getting to know clients #moderlodgebyjdm and hope they have many more projects for S.Flynn to work on because they were that cool. Even if it is just coming to style their Christmas tree…
